The show must go on!

These are difficult times for the Met and all the other police services out there.

Cutbacks, changes to pay, conditions of service and pensions... just general doom and gloom.

This ,all added into the mix, that apparently a number of Met officers took money from the sh**e-hounds that form part of Her Majesty’s press. Hell...... its backs to the wall. We need something to cheer us up, a Vera Lynn moment, a show ,something to put a song in our heart and a spring in our step ,help us forget our troubles.....

Well folks I bring you ........the MPS Diversity Awards......

Brought to you via the red carpet (can be changed to a neutral pastel if anybody objects) by the Citizen Focus Directorate

I tremble as I write this, reaching for the spare bottle of Ventolin, but there are five categories in the mix.

1.Leadership : Excellence in leading diversity and equality improvements

2.Fair and responsive services: work that has enabled the delivery of efficient and effective policing services that are fair and clearly responsive to the diverse needs of the people that we serve.

3.Community engagement: work that has enabled enhanced engagement with all communities listening and responding to their needs.

4.Workforce and culture: Work that has enabled the building and development of a talented workforce and working culture promoting mutual respect and teamwork in the MPS. This can be at corporate or local level

And last but not least........

5.Performance and governance:This award focuses on a different theme each year

This year’s theme will focus on work undertaken by MPS Boroughs departments and business groups in implementing and delivering the key area of the Equality Standard for the Police Service.

Nominations are being taken now ..............presentations in October

I have ordered my Tux already.............bids put in for front row .

I hope I have more success with tickets than I did with my two attempts for the woman's beach volleyball at the Olympics

Roll on October and bring it on.......
